These flags represent some of the diverse nationalities and peoples that we know to make up our wonderful town of Boston.

The Stump

We welcome contributions from everybody in the community!

These could be in the form of memories, stories, or photographs. The aim is to create an everlasting social and cultural resource that projects a positive message about the town.

Please bear in mind that our theme is cosmopolitan. We intentionally leave this term open to interpretation but, as a group, we have taken it to refer to the international and global influences that have shaped Boston (and vice versa).

For these reasons, we would be really interested to receive information about:

  • People’s own stories of moving to the area (e.g. from other parts of the UK as well as from other countries)
  • People’s own memories of living, working, and/or visiting abroad
  • Family histories of living and working in Boston or the surrounding area (e.g. on farms, on the market, in fishing, the port, or in industry)
  • Family stories of local, national, or global events and how they were experienced in Boston
